About Climate 2021
In October 2018, the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a special report highlighting the need to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels to reduce the risk of long-lasting, irreversible changes and ecosystem collapse due to climate change. This will require global carbon emissions to fall by 45 percent from 2010 levels by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. Rapid and far-reaching transitions in every sector of the economy are necessary to reach that ambitious but mandatory goal. From energy and transportation, to building, industrial process, waste management, agriculture and farming - we must reduce carbon emissions in every sector of the economy.
This is a monumental task and it can only be accomplished through collective actions and global collaborations. The United States must start to lead. We need a government and a Congress that will recognize the threat of climate change and will enact policies to help us reach the emissions reduction goals. As such, 2020 will be a key year to elect candidates running on a platform with effective policies to reduce carbon emissions and 2021 will be a key year for those policies to be turned into law.
Climate 2021 is a non-connected PAC that will harness the grassroots energy to elect the right candidates in 2020 and to ensure that effective climate policies will be enacted in 2021.
